The surfaces created by Dudu Garcia are an unlikely meeting place between informal abstractionism and hyperrealism. The artist works on the displacement of unnoticed urban landscapes into the frame. One of the main tools he uses in his pictorial research is the dialogue with the impact of time. In his paintings, Dudu uses organic materials, such as: stone powder, dust, petroleum, rubber, coal and silt as ink on linen, hemp and cotton canvases. Dudu Garcia lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, where he has been developing his research since 2001. He was part of the group of artists at Fábrica Bhering, having been the founder occupant at the venue. The artist participated in several exhibitions in museums and galleries in Brazil and abroad. Among them, the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum of Modern Art in Bahia, Centro Cultural dos Correios, Paço Imperial. His works make up the permanent collection of important institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM-RJ), the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia (MAM-BA), Centro Cultural dos Correios and Centro Cultural Cândido Mendes.
