Miguel António Domingues, 1982, Lisbon (Portugal). Lives and works in Lisbon.
He studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon (2000/02), completed a degree and master's degree (Master II) at the drawing studio of the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels (2002-2008) and, between 2010 and 2012, a postgraduate course (Meisterschülerstudium) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Germany.
He has been exhibiting since 2006 in Belgium, Germany, Austria and Portugal.
In 2007, he received the Danny Vienne Prize from the Académie Royale de Beaux Arts in Brussels, was awarded a DAAD scholarship between 2010 and 2012, and in 2023 was awarded the first Santander art prize.
His work (at the crossroads of drawing, sculpture and installation) has been presented in more institutional contexts: Ve.sch Kunstverein (Wien), Gesellschaft für Konkrete Kunst (Bonn), Cordoaria Nacional and Culturgest (Lisbon); Hochschule für Bildende Künste, (Dresden), Städtische Galerie - Emschertal Museum (Herne), Galerie Duqué-Pirson and Centre Culturel Jacques Franck (Brussels).
As well as in other less institutional contexts, for which he has developed site-specific projects, namely: Rua Angelina Vidal (Lisbon - his grandfather's former tailoring shop), La Senne, Abaque - bureau d'architecture, Friche (former PIAS record factory, Brussels) and Fonderie & Manufacture de Métaux (Brussels; a lead smelting factory where he worked). This last project gave rise to an author's edition, which brings together the photos of an installation of drawings in that factory.
His work is part of the PLMJ (Portugal), Städtische Galerie - Emschertal Museum (Germany) and private collections in France, Belgium and Germany.
